Episode 20: When You Stopped Sharing How You Feel

Have you ever wondered when you stopped sharing how you feel?

Not because you stopped having feelings.

Not because you no longer cared.

But because somewhere along the way, it simply became easier to keep them to yourself.

New podcast episodes, articles, and reflections on healing, growth, and becoming.

I don’t think this usually happens overnight. I think it happens quietly.

One conversation at a time. One relationship at a time.

Until one day you realize there are parts of yourself you rarely bring into the room anymore.

That realization became the heart of this week’s episode of The Reclaimed Life Podcast.

When There Didn’t Seem to Be Room

As I’ve been writing my upcoming book, When Your Voice Got Smaller, I’ve found myself reflecting on the quiet moments that slowly shaped how I saw myself.

For years, I spent a lot of time trying to understand why people responded the way they did.

Why they became defensive. Dismissed my feelings. Couldn’t hear what I was trying to say.

Eventually, I realized something that changed the way I looked at my own story.

Often, I don’t know why someone responded the way they did. What I do know is how it felt.

Sometimes it felt like there simply wasn’t room for my feelings alongside theirs.

That single realization opened the door to seeing many experiences in a completely different way.

A Different Question

For a long time, I believed healing meant understanding everyone else.

Now I find myself asking different questions.

What did it feel like? What did I quietly begin believing because of those experiences?

Sometimes those questions tell us far more than trying to explain another person’s motives ever could.

Listen to Episode 20

In this episode, I share reflections on the quiet experiences that can shape the way we see ourselves and why many of us slowly stop sharing how we feel.

We’ll explore:

  • Why silence often develops gradually
  • How repeated experiences shape the beliefs we carry
  • Why understanding another person’s motives isn’t always necessary for healing
  • How making room for your own experience can become the beginning of reclaiming your voice

If you’ve ever found yourself holding your feelings inside because it simply seemed easier, I hope this conversation reminds you that your experience matters.

Continue the Journey

These podcast episodes have become a place where I think out loud about the same themes I’m exploring in my upcoming book, When Your Voice Got Smaller.

If you’re listening after the book has been released, I hope you’ll continue the journey there.

And if you’re walking through your own season of reclaiming your voice, I’m grateful you’re here.

You’re always welcome at the table.
